The Rock's greatest living explorer, boldly lost in the world of the Silly Creatures.
Long ago, Matt walked out of Fraggle Rock and into Outer Space, which is what Fraggles call our world. He has been exploring it ever since, one baffling discovery at a time, and mailing postcards about it back to his nephew Gobo. In them, traffic lights are ancient guardians, skyscrapers might be edible, and the Silly Creatures remain a mystery science cannot solve.
He is brave, resourceful, and heroically clumsy, though he would only agree with the first two. As a boy he discovered the Gorgs' Garden and its radishes during the great mushroom blight, which makes him the reason every Fraggle eats.
- He was raised by his own Uncle Gobo, a legendary explorer with faded purple hair.
- He is one of the few Fraggles ever seen wearing footwear.
- His postcards have rescued the Rock from trouble more than once.
