Fairy exterminator, jewel hoarder, coward, and the best friend Sarah finds in the maze.
Hoggle works the front gate of the Labyrinth, spraying fairies and collecting anything that glitters. He is rude, stingy, and honest about exactly one thing: he looks out for himself. Jareth keeps him obedient with a single threat, a head-first dip in the Bog of Eternal Stench.
Then Sarah shows up, tricks him into helping her, and something inconvenient happens: he starts to care. Torn between fear of the Goblin King and the first real friendship of his life, Hoggle spends the whole story deciding what kind of dwarf he is. He chooses well, eventually.
- Jareth calls him Higgle, Hogwart, and Hedgewart. It's HOGGLE.
- His jewel pouch matters more to him than almost anything. Almost.
- The performer inside the suit could only see out through his open mouth, which is why Hoggle grunts loudly before walking anywhere.
