Sir Didymus
A knight of impeccable honor, boundless courage, and no sense of danger whatsoever.
Sir Didymus guards the bridge over the Bog of Eternal Stench, and none shall pass without his permission. That he is a small fox-terrier facing down giants does not enter into his thinking at all. He is chivalry itself: first into every fight, last out, always addressing Sarah as "my lady".
He rides a shaggy sheepdog steed named Ambrosius, who has considerably more sense of danger than his master and uses it at the worst possible moments. Once Sir Didymus gives his word, nothing in the Labyrinth can move him. Though asking nicely, it turns out, works wonders.
- He guards a bridge over the smelliest place in the Labyrinth and has simply decided not to notice.
- Ambrosius the steed strongly disagrees with most of his master's plans.
- His code is absolute: honor first, size irrelevant.
