The Worm
The friendliest resident of the Labyrinth. Come inside and meet the missus, have a nice cup of tea.
Just inside the Labyrinth's endless outer corridor lives a small blue worm with a colorful scarf and a warm Cockney welcome. He is the first friendly face Sarah meets, and the first to share the maze's great secret: the walls are full of openings you cannot see unless you know to look.
He is also, accidentally, the reason her journey nearly fails. Trying to be helpful, he steers her away from the turn that led straight to the castle. He meant well. He always means well. Now, about that cup of tea.
- A comic years later revealed his name: William, according to the missus.
- "'Ello!" remains one of the most quoted single words in the film.
- He never does get Sarah inside for that tea.
